Are you cultured? Probiotic?

The Individual

Naturopathic medicine should always have a focus on gut health. Most healthcare practitioners now acknowledge that our digestive flora (i.e. probiotics) play a crucial role in our digestive and immune health. But that same probiotic culture is also a key component of our hormonal, neurological, inflammatory, and mental health. Hormones, the great communicators between body systems, can be disrupted by dysbiosis, toxins, food additives, heavy metals, and other environmental factors. The majority of neurotransmitters are the products of the digestive system, so gut health is vital to neurological health. Food sensitivities and allergies can produce chronic inflammation and severe autoimmunity in the whole body. Finally, if our hormones, neurotransmitters, and inflammatory markers are negatively impacted by dysbiosis, it stands to reason that our mental capacities will diminish from the same poor conditions. Along with healing the gut lining, each person needs a healthy gut biome to obtain optimal health for all of the systems of the body.

The Family

In addition to the health of the individual, the health of the culture of the family needs to be considered in order to obtain real health and happiness. The family is the foundational cornerstone that fortifies any healthy society. A family needs physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual health to thrive. If a father, a mother, a son, or a daughter becomes ill, it behooves the other members of the family to undergo health promoting changes for the benefit of the stricken member and for the family as a whole. A healthy family culture assumes a probiotic culture, literally and figuratively, through healthy meals shared together, and healthy communication in all other aspects of life.

The State

Healthy families make up healthy societies. The state exists to protect and promote the health of families, and families contribute back to the common good when they, as members of society, are healthy and well. In order to fight any public health crisis, we need a healthy culture of optimization, prevention, and nutrition on an individual and familial level.

We strive to treat the whole person, family, and all aspects of culture at the Center for Natural Medicine to achieve true health. Oftentimes, that begins with the culture of the gut. Let us be your haven of probiotic health. Please call and make an appointment today.
