Protect Your Right to Bio-Identical Hormone Therapies
Center For Natural Medicine Announces
Make Your Opposition Known

Mar 12, 2006 Wyeth Labs, the maker of Premarin, Is attempting to put forward legislation that would stop compounding pharmacies from making special bio identical hormone prescriptions. They maintain that these are not really individualized prescriptions.

Any of my patients using compounded hormones know I make the formula specifically to meet the needs of their body. I do not use "one size fits all", because it does not. They also maintain the safety has not been tested. While hormones may increase risk of some health issues, the hormones that are bio identical have been tested historically in our own bodies.

The risk of estrogen and progesterone and testosterone as well as side effects of the hormones are known because they exist naturally in humans. We are not introducing a foreign chemical like the synthetic hormones drug companies patent and sell.

Synthetic hormones act differently than the natural hormones, which is why they need to be tested. Unfortunately the testing has put these drugs into question and affected the drug companies bottom line enough they apparently are trying to eliminate competition.

Please go to the Women's International web site listed above if you want help finding the email address to send your correspondence. I just typed up my letter. I then went to the women's international web site to get to the proper web sites to submit my letter and posted it to each place. It was quite easy.

You can also go to our website and find the information and a printable web page for your use.

BHRT IS UNDER ATTACK!
wip THE FACTS: Recently, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, makers of Premarin® and Prempro®, filed a Citizen’s Petition with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) asking the FDA to impose harmful restrictions on the compounding and dispensing of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). This petition would eliminate the availability of compounded bio-identical hormones, which are prescribed by healthcare providers and prepared by pharmacists, to meet the unique needs of each individual patient. Unlike Wyeth’s products, bio-identical hormones are identical to what the body produces. In addition to the Petition, Wyeth has unleashed an organized campaign to fuel support for its efforts. Several Wyeth-affiliated, nationally known organizations have filed comments in support of Wyeth’s Petition.

THE FUTURE: Wyeth’s petition asks for strategic restrictions that, if granted, would put an end to all pharmacy compounding. These restrictions would severely restrict or limit the ability of healthcare providers to treat all of their patients, not just men and women on BHRT. With your help, Wyeth can and must be defeated in its attempt to restrict your right to choose “compounded” medications!

WHAT CAN YOU DO? Time is of the essence! We need 20,000 comments filed with the FDA by April 4, 2006! It is also extremely important that you file your comments with your U.S. Congressional elected officials. Please note that your comments should be in written form sharing your personal experience with bio-identical hormones stating the positive impact it has had on you and your quality of life.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY COMMENTS? Please visit www.womensinternational.com. Women’s International Pharmacy, working in conjunction with the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists (IACP), will link you to the site that is dedicated to protecting BHRT.

If the internet is not an option for you, you can submit your comments by fax or mail. To assist you, a “sample” letter is available on the Center For Natural Medicine website along with the fax number and mailing address. However, please note that due to the heightened security measures, items mailed to the FDA take months to be processed so U.S. Mail should be a last resort for filing your comments. Please forward this information to anyone who will support this effort.

We, at Women’s International Pharmacy, thank you for working together with us to fight for freedom and your right, to continue taking bio-identical hormone therapies essential to your health, quality of life!
